Large Screen, State-of-the-Art Sound, Lighting, and Broadcasting Systems Installed in Citizen Cheong Taepyeong Hall
Leading Post-Corona Digital Administrative Innovation
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Seoul City announced on the 16th that it will install and operate a video conference studio called 'Seoul ON' in the basement Taepyeong Hall of Citizen Hall, enabling various untact events including international conferences in the COVID-19 era where face-to-face contact is minimized.
This is the first time that a dedicated studio capable of hosting ongoing events rather than one-time events has been installed and operated in a local government office building in Seoul. Starting with the '2020 Peaceful Unification Social Dialogue Created by Citizens' on the 19th, a total of 47 events including conferences, concerts, debates, and exhibitions will be held almost daily until the end of the year.
The city plans to convert various events in the second half of the year, which have become uncertain due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), into non-face-to-face formats to comply with quarantine guidelines while continuing to carry out projects and events normally and maintain continuous communication with citizens. By utilizing dedicated infrastructure, it aims not only to achieve budget savings but also to lead digital administrative innovation tailored to the post-COVID-19 era.
Seoul ON, which will begin pilot operation on the 19th, will be installed inside the temporarily closed Citizen Hall Taepyeong Hall (348.06㎡) for social distancing and quarantine purposes, in a semi-circular (oval) structure measuring 12 meters wide and 7 meters long. It is set up as a broadcasting studio equipped with a large LED screen (33m wide × 5m high) covering the entire walls and floor, state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, and relay systems to maximize facility utilization.
The name and BI of Seoul ON signify that although events are conducted non-face-to-face, hearts and sincerity are connected (ON). The city will pilot operate Seoul ON at Citizen Hall until December and plans to fully install and operate it next year at DDP (Dongdaemun Design Plaza), opening it for use not only by Seoul City but also by private companies.
Park Jin-young, Seoul City's Citizen Communication Planning Officer, said, "In the COVID-19 era where non-face-to-face has become the new normal, communication with citizens inevitably changes from before. Through the operation of Seoul ON, we will do our best to hold various events that were uncertain due to COVID-19 in a non-face-to-face manner and lead a great transition to digital administration in the post-COVID-19 era."
