[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The National Fire Agency will sign a business agreement on the 17th with Seoul National University Hospital, Chungcheongbuk-do, Jincheon-gun, and Eumseong-gun to establish the National Fire Hospital.

The National Fire Hospital, to be built in Duseong-ri, Maengdong-myeon, Eumseong-gun, Chungbuk, will have 5 floors above ground and 2 floors underground, with a total floor area of 32,814㎡. It will be equipped with four centers and one research institute, including a Burn Center, Rehabilitation Center, and Fire Health Research Institute. It will have 300 beds across 21 medical departments and is scheduled to open by the end of 2024.

This business agreement was prepared to support professional technology, personnel, and administrative procedures from the hospital's design to its opening. According to the agreement, Seoul National University Hospital will provide expert personnel for consultation on medical facilities and equipment, hospital operations, and technologies necessary to improve healthcare services.

Chungbuk Province, Jincheon-gun, and Eumseong-gun will support the creation of auxiliary facilities to improve medical accessibility and the quality of public healthcare services for local residents, handle administrative procedures such as changes to district unit plans necessary for hospital construction, and provide local government funds required for the hospital's establishment.

Jeong Moon-ho, Commissioner of the National Fire Agency, said, "Once the National Fire Hospital opens, it will not only provide treatment and health promotion for firefighters but also conduct research on diseases related to firefighting duties. Additionally, expanding medical facilities in the central region will contribute to improving medical services for local residents."
