Ulleung-gun Offers Nation's Highest Subsidy for 'Electric Cargo Vehicles'... "Electric Two-Wheelers to Be Supported Next Year"

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk announced that following the distribution of about 300 electric vehicles by the first half of this year to improve air quality, starting from the 16th, it will provide purchase subsidies for electric cargo vehicles.

The eligible electric cargo vehicle types for support include 4 ultra-compact models, 1 light model, and 4 small (1-ton) models. Subsidies are provided differentially by vehicle type, up to a maximum of 29 million KRW per vehicle. This is the highest support scale nationwide.

Applicants must be residents or corporations with an address in Ulleung-gun before July 1. Those who receive subsidies to purchase electric vehicles must comply with a mandatory operation period of 2 years.

The eligible vehicle types for subsidies can be checked on the Low Emission Vehicle Integrated Website. Subsidy applications are made through electric vehicle manufacturers or dealers (sales offices, etc.) for vehicles that can be delivered within 2 months. After signing a purchase contract, the applicant fills out the support application form, and the dealer applies through the purchase subsidy support system.

Kim Byung-su, the mayor of Ulleung-gun, stated, "We plan to continuously promote the distribution of electric vehicles to build a carbon-zero eco-friendly island," adding, "Following electric passenger cars and electric cargo vehicles, we plan to provide purchase subsidies for electric two-wheelers starting next year."
