Full-Scale Leap Toward Advanced Medical Tourism City... Applications Open Until September 25... Promoting Domestic and International Joint Marketing, Tourism Product Development, and Publicity
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Chae Hyun-il) is recruiting partner organizations by September 25 to jointly promote the development of medical tourism products and marketing for the activation of the Yeongdeungpo Smart Medical Special Zone.
The purpose is to establish a public-private cooperation network with the district and medical institutions, share specialized information, and develop various medical tourism support projects to lay the foundation for Yeongdeungpo to become a leader in medical tourism in the post-COVID-19 era.
Selected partner organizations will receive support for three years from the appointment date, including ▲official designation as a partner organization ▲qualification as a subcommittee member ▲opportunities for online and offline promotion through the medical tourism website and information center ▲inclusion as a partner organization in medical tourism guidebooks and promotional materials ▲support for domestic and international marketing to attract foreign patients ▲and education to strengthen capabilities in the medical tourism field.
The recruitment targets include medical institutions registered for attracting foreign patients located in Yeongdeungpo-gu, foreign patient attraction businesses (general travel agencies and agencies with no location restrictions), and lodging, dining, and shopping centers with foreign language infrastructure located in Yeongdeungpo-gu.
Applications must be submitted by the 25th by mailing the application form, business registration certificate, foreign patient attraction registration certificate (only for medical institutions and attraction businesses), and other required documents to the Vision Cooperation Division of Yeongdeungpo-gu Office or by email to the person in charge (winter24@ydp.go.kr).
The application form can be downloaded from the Yeongdeungpo-gu Office website.
After recruitment is completed, document screening and on-site inspections will be conducted in October. Evaluation criteria include the presence of staff capable of communicating with medical tourists, possession of a multilingual website, and verification of certification or awards as a domestic or international excellent facility.
Additionally, on-site inspections will include qualitative evaluations of interest in medical tourism, willingness to participate, and cooperation plans.
Organizations scoring 70 points or higher based on the evaluation criteria will be selected, and final selection will be made in November after review by the Medical Tourism Council.
Since being designated as a Smart Medical Special Zone in 2017, Yeongdeungpo-gu has been striving to develop a specialized medical tourism industry. Last year, it opened and has been operating a medical tourism information center, built a multilingual medical tourism website, and signed an MOU with the Mongolian Ministry of Health to strengthen the foundation of medical tourism.
Recently, efforts have focused on supporting medical tourism promotion by planning content related to Yeongdeungpo medical tourism, recruiting SNS supporters for posting activities, and appointing foreign ambassadors.
Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “Although the global medical tourism market has been stagnant due to COVID-19, the recognition of Korean medical brands such as K-quarantine continues to rise. We hope for the interest and participation of medical institutions and the tourism industry so that Yeongdeungpo-gu can leap forward as a representative medical tourism city in the post-COVID-19 era.”
