Shinhyup to Award 130 Million Won in Scholarships to Vulnerable College Students This Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] The Credit Union Social Contribution Foundation announced on the 10th that it has awarded scholarships totaling over 130 million KRW to 209 vulnerable university students this year to improve their welfare and support self-reliance.

The foundation selected a total of 209 scholarship recipients through a qualification screening process this year and distributed scholarships totaling over 130 million KRW in two installments during the first and second halves of the year. A scholarship award ceremony for the second half was held yesterday at the Credit Union Central Hall located in Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon.

These scholarships were funded through the vulnerable group scholarship support project within workplace credit unions. This social contribution project by the Credit Union aims to reduce educational opportunity gaps and provide equal educational opportunities by awarding scholarships to vulnerable university students affiliated with workplace credit unions nationwide.

Park Young-beom, the foundation’s executive director, stated, “We hope that through the foundation’s scholarship support, university students, who are the future leaders, will grow into outstanding talents contributing to their local communities.” He added, “The Credit Union will continue to firmly support the dreams and futures of young people through various efforts and active assistance.”
