[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] A new case of COVID-19 was reported for the second consecutive day in Jeju.

The 50th confirmed case announced by Jeju Province on the 10th is person A, who was classified as a contact of the operator of the 'Rooftop Garden' guesthouse in Namwon-eup, Seogwipo City. The guesthouse operator was the 36th confirmed case, so person A was classified as a contact and had been in quarantine. However, just before the quarantine was lifted, person A tested positive in a specimen test conducted on the morning of the 9th.

Previously, person A tested negative in a COVID-19 test conducted on the first day of self-quarantine on the 27th of last month.

Person A has so far shown no particular symptoms of COVID-19.

The provincial quarantine authorities stated that person A lived separately from family members during the self-quarantine period and maintained isolation until receiving the test results after being tested at Jeju Health Center, so it is believed that there were no contacts related to person A.

The province is transferring person A to a negative pressure ward at Seogwipo Medical Center for isolated treatment and is conducting disinfection inside and outside person A's residence.

With person A's positive diagnosis, the total number of confirmed cases linked to the Rooftop Garden guesthouse in Jeju has increased to five.

Earlier, on the 9th, Jeju Province announced that person B, who arrived from the United States on the 8th, tested positive while in self-quarantine after specimen collection at the walk-through screening clinic at Jeju International Airport. The overseas entrant is also reported to have no particular symptoms.
