Busan Shuts Down Traffic at 23 Locations, Trains and Light Rail Halted from First Service
No Sea Bridges Passable Between 8-9 AM as Typhoon Approaches

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] On the morning of the 7th, as Typhoon “Haishen” No. 10 moves northward, unleashing strong winds and heavy rain, numerous roads and bridges across Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam are flooded or closed due to strong winds, causing widespread damage.
At around 8 a.m. on the 7th, a steep slope near Mium Tunnel in Gangseo-gu, Busan, collapsed, completely blocking traffic on Local Road No. 1030 between Changwon and Busan.
As of 6:28 a.m., the maximum instantaneous wind speed reached 38.2 m/s in Seoi-mal, Geoje, Gyeongnam, and 32.3 m/s in Gangseo-gu, Busan.
Approximately 600 people from 400 households are being evacuated urgently across 18 cities and counties in Gyeongnam, and vehicle traffic on Anmin Hill Road in Changwon has been fully restricted. The Ulsan Bridge was closed to traffic in both directions at around 8:20 a.m. due to strong winds.
At 5:20 a.m., the Eulsukdo Bridge in Busan was closed due to strong winds, and at 8:20 a.m., the Busan Port Bridge was also completely blocked. Se-byeong Bridge and Su-yeon Bridge in Dongnae-gu, Busan, as well as the Ujangchun and Anrak underpasses, the highway entrance road in Mandeok-dong, Buk-gu, and the Hwamyung Ecological Park road were flooded and closed to traffic.
At 7:46 a.m., the Gwangandaegyo Bridge, connecting Suyeong-gu and Haeundae-gu over the sea in Busan, was closed on both upper and lower decks, and container truck traffic on the Namhang Bridge, spanning from Yeongdo-gu to Nam-gu over the sea, was halted.
As of 8 a.m. on the day Haishen approached Busan, none of the sea bridges in the maritime city of Busan were passable.
At 9 a.m., when Haishen was closest to Busan, the Busan police controlled traffic on a total of 53 city roads.
As of 9:15 a.m., the police reported receiving 326 reports related to typhoon-induced road flooding and other incidents. The Busan Fire Headquarters had responded to a total of 143 typhoon-related dispatches by 8 a.m.
At 6:50 a.m., a power outage occurred affecting about 580 households around Yongho Catholic Church in Nam-gu, Busan, and reports related to power outages are increasing.

Haishen, advancing northward with unprecedented strength, has also halted trains.
The Donghae Line between Bujeon and Ilgwang, which crosses Busan city, suspended operations from the first train at 5:30 a.m. on the 7th.
The Busan-Gimhae Light Rail Transit also stopped running from the first train at 5 a.m. The Geoga Bridge, connecting Busan and Geoje over sea and underwater, was closed to traffic in both directions from midnight on the 7th due to strong winds.
The previous night, Korea Railroad Corporation suspended or adjusted train operations on six lines ? Gyeongbu, Gyeongjeon, Donghae, Jungang, Yeongdong, and Gyeongbuk ? until the typhoon passes.
On the Gyeongbu Line, all trains including KTX, Saemaeul, and Mugunghwa between Dongdaegu and Busan were stopped; only the Seoul to Dongdaegu section remains operational. On the Gyeongjeon Line, all trains between Masan and Jinju were suspended.
The Donghae Line suspended all electric train operations between Bujeon and Ilgwang. The Yeongdong and Gyeongbuk Lines halted operations on all sections, while the Taebaek and Jungang Lines operate only between Cheongnyangni and Jecheon.
High-speed rail KTX on the Gyeongbu and Honam Lines is running normally but may be temporarily suspended or slowed due to strong winds.
The Railroad Corporation stated, “Depending on the typhoon’s movement, operations on these and other lines may be adjusted, and trains may be delayed due to slow speeds.”
