[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] The Personal Information Protection Commission announced on the 6th that it will select 150 professional instructors this year to strengthen personal information protection education in both public and private sectors, and they will be active for the next two years.
The ‘Personal Information Protection Education Professional Instructor’ system was introduced in 2016 to promote autonomous personal information protection education and meet demand in the private and public sectors. Since the launch of the PIPC, qualifications have been strengthened to require 5 years of practical experience and at least 10 lectures over 3 years of teaching experience. Selected professional instructors will be active for two years.
In addition to the existing five lecture regions?Capital area, Gangwon area, Chungcheong area, Jeolla area, and Gyeongsang area?Jeju area and nationwide area have been added to further expand opportunities for regional education.
The selected professional instructors can be confirmed on the Personal Information Protection Portal (http://www.privacy.go.kr). Instructors with outstanding performance will also be invited to participate as advisors in research groups related to education content development and system improvement.
Sanghee Park, Secretary General of the Personal Information Protection Commission, stated, “In the era of the data economy, where the importance of personal information is increasingly highlighted, personal information protection education is a continuous fundamental infrastructure to establish a foundation for safe protection and utilization of personal information.” He added, “We expect that the newly selected professional instructors will play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality and expanding the scope of personal information protection education.”
