[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seul-gi] On the 15th of last month, conservative groups that led the so-called 'Liberation Day rally' announced their intention to file charges including murder against Jung Eun-kyung, head of the Central Disease Control Headquarters. On the 4th, Jeong Cheong-rae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, pointed out that "It is like a thief accusing the police of theft to the prosecution."
On that day, Jeong posted on his Facebook, saying, "There is a limit to audacity. Shouldn't the United Future Party (now People Power Party) say something at times like this?"
He continued, "Admiral Yi Sun-sin also suffered from false accusations. Director Jung, please do not be discouraged and continue to work hard as you have been. Stay strong."
He added, "Will Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl conduct a search and seizure of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA)? Or will he search these organizations? I am worried that the KDCA might not be searched," expressing concern by saying, "The prosecution is nowhere to be seen at the COVID-19 quarantine sites."
Earlier, conservative groups including the Free Democratic National Movement held a press conference in front of the Supreme Prosecutors' Office in Seocho-gu, Seoul, announcing their intention to file charges against Director Jung, applying allegations such as 'murder by implied intent.'
