[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Korea Electric Power Technology announced on the 2nd that it has completed the installation of solar power generation facilities in three sister villages?Hwanghang-ri in Jeungsan-myeon, Churyang 2-ri in Daedeok-myeon, and Hadae-ri in Buhang-myeon, Gimcheon-si, Gyeongbuk Province?and signed a power sales contract with the Korea Electric Power Corporation Gimcheon branch.
The three villages have been sister villages with KEPCO Technology since May last year, and the company has continuously engaged in various volunteer activities such as improving electrical facilities in old houses.
This project is meaningful in that KEPCO Technology participated in the government's regional win-win cooperation project through contributions to the Rural-Urban Win-Win Cooperation Fund and installed solar power generation facilities to promote eco-friendly energy and contribute to the actual income of the local farming households.
Earlier, on the 31st of last month, KEPCO Technology signed a "Joint Promotion Agreement for the Rural-Urban Win-Win Cooperation Fund Support Project" with Gyeongbuk Province and the Foundation for Large, Small, and Medium Enterprises and Agriculture-Fishery Cooperation to secure the sustainability of social contribution activities in the region.
From next year, a total of 1 billion KRW of the Rural-Urban Win-Win Cooperation Fund will be contributed over five years for the development of agriculture and rural areas in the Gyeongbuk region.
KEPCO Technology plans to continuously promote various projects using this fund, including replacing outdated electrical facilities in local farms, supporting the development of sales channels for agricultural products, prioritizing the purchase of agricultural products from vulnerable groups, and sharing projects for marginalized groups.
