Office Workers' 'Contactless Lunch' Trend... Sikkeondaejang's 'Reserved Delivery Meals' Growth

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] With the resurgence of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), food delivery services specialized for companies are gaining popularity. Bendis (CEO Jo Jeong-ho), which operates the corporate mobile meal voucher 'Sikgwon Daejang,' announced on the 1st that its delivery service 'Yeyak Baedal Siksa' (Reserved Delivery Meal) is expected to grow by 200% by the end of the year due to recent increased demand.

Sikgwon Daejang is a solution introduced by companies to support meal expenses for their employees. By using the Yeyak Baedal Siksa service, employees can order food in the morning through the Sikgwon Daejang app and have it delivered to the office in time for lunch. This allows individuals to eat separately in the office without visiting crowded restaurants during lunchtime.

This service has seen steady monthly usage growth, with transaction volume increasing by 103.3% just eight months after its launch. In February and March, when COVID-19 began to significantly impact Korea, the service grew by 30.5% and 32.7% month-over-month, respectively. In mid-last month, as the COVID-19 situation worsened again, August showed a growth rate of 57.4% compared to the previous month.

The menu available through Yeyak Baedal Siksa is diverse. After internal quality testing by Sikgwon Daejang, various food brands have joined, including sandwich, salad, Korean, Japanese, Western cuisine, and lunchbox specialty stores. Additionally, service enhancements are planned within the year, such as allowing delivery address changes for remote workers and adding meal kit lineups so employees can prepare meals in advance on days they come to the office.

Jo Jeong-ho, CEO of Bendis, said, "As seen in the recently announced social distancing level 2.5 quarantine guidelines, social efforts to prevent COVID-19 infections in places like restaurants and cafes are ongoing," adding, "We will continue to improve the Yeyak Baedal Siksa service and add various food culture content so that office workers can spend their lunch hours in a safe and comfortable environment."
