From September, Operation of Digital Competency Enhancement Hub Centers, Fixed SOC, and Mobile SOC... Creating a User-Centered Educational Environment with Segmented Courses in Digital Basics, Digital Life, Digital Intermediate, and Special Training Programs
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Lee Chang-woo) will promote the ‘Life SOC-based Digital Competency Enhancement Education’ from September to January next year.
Life SOC refers to indirect capital used by residents in daily life to improve convenience, such as libraries, welfare centers, and parks, unlike large-scale SOC focused on space and development.
This project was prepared to create a demand-centered digital education environment in response to the rapid shift to a non-face-to-face digital environment, such as the expansion of remote work and online school openings due to COVID-19.
For smooth project implementation, the district operates by dividing into ▲Digital Competency Enhancement Hub Center ▲Fixed SOC utilizing informatization education centers already equipped with digital education infrastructure ▲Mobile SOC conducting visiting digital education.
First, the district designated the Dongjak-gu Informatization Education Center (74 Noryangjin-ro, 9th floor) as the Digital Competency Enhancement Hub Center, where a total of four personnel, including digital instructors and supporters, provide education to seniors and residents.
In particular, night classes and weekend special lectures will be opened for residents who find it difficult to attend classes during weekday daytime due to work or study, providing a wide range of digital education.
Also, four locations ? ▲Sangdo 4-dong Informatization Education Center (17 Yangnyeong-ro 27na-gil) ▲Heukseok-dong Informatization Education Center (11 Heukseok Hangang-ro) ▲Daebang-dong Informatization Education Center (35 Sangdo-ro) ▲Dongjak City Senior Welfare Center (7 Sangdo-ro 11-gil) ? are designated as Life SOC Digital Competency Enhancement Centers to conduct regular digital education as fixed SOC.
Along with this, mobile SOC digital education will be conducted for residents with mobility difficulties, such as the disabled, by utilizing vacant spaces in libraries, welfare centers, and community service centers.
The education consists of lectures by digital field experts and proceeds through ▲Digital Basics, improving skills in smart devices, non-face-to-face video solutions, and SNS usage ▲Digital Life, learning digital technologies frequently used in daily life such as finance and public services ▲Digital Intermediate, creating a certain level of output using digital devices and programs.
Special courses include ▲One-person media activities ▲Comprehensive programs on new information and communication technologies (3D printing, coding, drones) to be taught to residents.
Residents wishing to participate can apply online through the Korea Information Society Agency starting next month.
According to strengthened social distancing measures, the district will operate flexibly by significantly reducing the number of trainees per center director or by methods such as 1:1 visits by instructors and online education.
Park Yeon-su, Director of the Future City Division, said, “We will do our best to promote the project so that any resident can improve the basic digital competencies necessary for daily life through this education,” and added, “We hope for the interest and participation of many residents.”
