Civil Defense 'Group Training' Replaced with 'Cyber Training'

Seodaemun-gu, Seoul: Complete Course by Taking Cyber Lectures and Evaluations on PC or Smartphone

Civil Defense 'Group Training' Replaced with 'Cyber Training'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) will replace the civil defense training, which has been suspended due to COVID-19, with non-face-to-face online training.

Until now, civil defense members in their 1st to 4th year attended 4 hours of group training annually, while those with 5 or more years completed 1 hour of online training or emergency assembly.

The district will conduct smart civil defense training accessible via PC and smartphones for all civil defense members starting in September to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Civil defense members affiliated with the district can access the ‘Smart Civil Defense Training Website’ and complete the course from September 1 to November 30.

The training content includes the duties and roles of civil defense members, infectious disease prevention, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, and other national safety action guidelines for daily life.

After completing the 1-hour cyber lecture, passing at least 14 out of 20 multiple-choice questions will be recognized as completing the training, and a certificate of completion can be issued if necessary.

For members who have difficulty attending cyber training, separate written training will be provided.

Additionally, members who participate in blood donation can be considered to have completed the training by submitting a blood donation certificate. This is in consideration of the continuous decrease in blood supply due to COVID-19.

A district official said, “Civil defense training, which had been suspended due to COVID-19, will now be held online. We hope for active cooperation and participation from civil defense members and ask them to also adhere to quarantine rules such as social distancing in daily life to overcome COVID-19.”

Inquiries can be made to the Smart Civil Defense Training Counseling Center or the Gangseo-gu Office Safety Management Division.
