CJ O Shopping Launches Exclusive 'Gallery K' Art Rental Service

[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-sun] CJ ENM O Shopping Division is launching a painting rental product that allows customers to enjoy works by mid-career artists at reasonable prices.

CJ O Shopping will sell rental products from the specialized painting rental gallery ‘GalleryK’ on the 29th at 8:30 PM. GalleryK holds over 1,300 works by more than 60 mid-career domestic artists, including Jeong Goam, Bae Jin-hyun, and Jeong Mi-ae. Unlike works by emerging artists, customers can use actual works by verified artists with decades of experience.

The monthly fee is about 1% of the artwork price, which is 39,000 KRW for a size 10 piece (with the longer side measuring 53 cm). Upon applying for consultation, customers can receive professional guidance from an art purchasing consultant, called an ‘Art Dealer,’ affiliated with GalleryK, tailored to preferred styles such as installation location, size, theme, and color. Rented works can be exchanged for different pieces every six months without additional cost.

If renting two or more pieces, customers receive a 10,000 KRW discount per piece on the monthly rental fee for each additional artwork. Also, if a rented artwork is purchased, the amount paid in rental fees will be deducted from the purchase price. Even if the artwork’s price increases during the rental period, it can be purchased at the initial rental price.

Customers who apply for rental during the broadcast will be entered into a draw to win one of three Samsung Electronics ‘The Frame TV’ 65-inch models as a prize.
