[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Chang-won] A colleague of Jeju COVID-19 case number 30, an employee of Jeju Free International City Development Center (JDC), has also tested positive for COVID-19.
Jeju Special Self-Governing Province announced on the 26th that COVID-19 case number 34 occurred at around 5:20 PM on the 25th. Case number 34, identified as Mr. A, was confirmed to be an employee of Jeju Free International City Development Center (JDC).
After learning that a COVID-19 case (case number 30) had occurred within the same company, Mr. A visited Jeju National University Hospital at around 9:50 AM on the 25th to get tested, and was confirmed positive by Jeju National University Hospital that afternoon.
During a phone interview with Jeju epidemiologists, Mr. A stated, "I visited the Seoul metropolitan area from the 15th to the 17th, and from the 24th I experienced chills, muscle pain, and a slight cough," and added, "Around the 18th, I had a conversation with Jeju case number 30 within the company."
Jeju quarantine authorities transferred Mr. A to a negative pressure isolation ward at Jeju National University Hospital and are conducting an epidemiological investigation to determine his exact movements and identify contacts.
With two confirmed cases at JDC, Jeju Province has decided to conduct mass testing for all 300 employees.
