Gyeongnam Office of Education Selects Four 'Purchased Kindergartens' Including Changwon and Gimhae

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Choi Hyun-joo] The Gyeongnam Office of Education announced on the 25th that four private kindergartens in Changwon and Gimhae were selected through this year's 'Purchased Kindergarten' public contest.

The selected kindergartens are Changwon Solbitgil Kindergarten, Gimhae Ileader Kindergarten, Tongyeong Kkumnamu Kindergarten, and Geoje Hansol Kindergarten, totaling four kindergartens.

In this purchased kindergarten contest, 27 private kindergartens from 8 cities in Gyeongnam applied, and the selection evaluation team’s assessment and the Ministry of Education’s purchased kindergarten selection advisory committee’s review were conducted.

Purchased kindergartens are established and operated as public kindergartens by purchasing existing private kindergartens in areas where expanding public kindergartens is urgent, with the purpose of strengthening the public nature of kindergartens.

The selected kindergartens plan to open as public kindergartens in March next year after going through administrative procedures such as appraisal, financial investment review, signing of commitment letters, shared property management plan review, and budget allocation.

A school support department official said, “We will strive in various ways to expand public kindergartens and increase enrollment rates.”
