Experience a Virtual 360° VR Tour of Mullae Creative Village and Seonyudo Park from Home... 'Learning Yeongdeungpo' Educational Videos Including Exercise Programs and Growing Lettuce Available
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) has launched the ‘Wise Home Stay Life (feat. Yeongdeungpo)’ section on the district’s official website starting from the 24th, providing residents tired of COVID-19 with an easy and enjoyable way to spend leisure time at home.
The ‘Wise Home Stay Life’ section can be accessed by selecting ‘Yeongdeungpo News’ → ‘Picture Story’ → ‘Open Story’ in sequence from the top menu of the district website, then clicking the ‘Wise Home Stay Life’ thumbnail.
This section offers two types of content: ‘Enjoying Yeongdeungpo’ and ‘Learning Yeongdeungpo.’
First, ‘Enjoying Yeongdeungpo’ is designed with the concept of ‘Traveling to Yeongdeungpo Attractions from Your Room.’ It consists of two main pages. On the first page, under the title ‘Still Going There? Watch It at Home with VR!,’ you can see six representative attractions marked on the Yeongdeungpo-gu map.
The six attractions are ▲ Mullae Creative Village ▲ Seonyudo Park ▲ Yeouido Park ▲ 63 Square ▲ Seoul Marina Club & Yacht. Clicking each location opens a 360-degree VR video viewed from the open sky right before your eyes.
The videos were filmed by drone and produced only in areas where aerial filming permission was granted.
On the second page, under the title ‘Introducing Our Beautiful Neighborhood,’ you can enjoy various preview videos of Yeongdeungpo, including ‘Our Neighborhood Seen from the Sky,’ which captures the landscapes of Yangpyeong-dong and Daerim-dong, and ‘Spring in Yeongdeungpo-gu 2020,’ showing the spring flower blooming scenes along Yunjungno, a spring flower festival season canceled this year to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The district planned and built this to provide residents with a vivid experience as if they visited Yeongdeungpo’s attractions in person, even while staying indoors. This initiative aims to offer vicarious satisfaction and relieve the frustration of residents staying home due to the elevation of social distancing to level 2.
The other content is ‘Learning Yeongdeungpo.’ It provides diverse educational videos for residents eager to learn new knowledge and satisfy their curiosity while adhering to social distancing guidelines.
The posted videos are produced by local welfare facilities such as the Dementia Safety Center and are provided with their cooperation. The types of educational videos include exercise programs, growing lettuce and red mustard, German conversation, and 3D printer introductions, among others.
Below the video playback screen, shortcuts to the promotional channels (YouTube) of each welfare facility are also provided, which is expected to help promote these welfare facilities to residents.
The Yeongdeungpo-gu website recorded an average daily user count of about 5,000 in 2019, which increased significantly to 26,675 as of the end of July 2020. The number of members also rose sharply from 20,477 at the end of December 2019 to 30,944 by the end of July this year.
Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, “The district website serves as an online channel to communicate with residents and deliver disaster situations quickly and accurately. We will provide various customized contents that can be enjoyed non-face-to-face in the post-COVID-19 era.”
