[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The Chinese video-sharing app TikTok has taken legal action against the U.S. government's plan to ban it.

According to Bloomberg and others on the 24th (local time), TikTok filed a petition with the Central District Court of California to cancel the executive order issued by U.S. President Donald Trump.

On the 6th, President Trump announced an executive order banning transactions with TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, citing national security threats.

TikTok challenged the executive order in court, arguing that it violates the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The Fifth Amendment states that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law.

TikTok also disputed President Trump's designation of the company as a national security threat. In its complaint, TikTok countered, "We are making special efforts to protect the personal information of U.S. users."
