Yoon Jeong-hwan, Director of Theater Company 'San', "A Heavy and Painful Feeling in My Heart"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Yoon Jeong-hwan, the representative of Theater Company San, stated on the 20th regarding the occurrence of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) within the theater company, "It is difficult to identify the infection route."
On the same day, Yoon said in a post on his Facebook, "Even after thoroughly reviewing the movements of all team members, it was not easy to determine the infection route."
Yoon added, "Since the performance was in the form of a three-dimensional reading play, unlike typical theater performances, we practiced while maintaining greater distance and adhered to quarantine measures, yet this situation occurred. Considering the impact on the cultural and artistic community and related industries, which are our livelihood, due to multiple confirmed cases, another part of my heart feels heavy and painful alongside the pain caused by the infection."
He also requested, "Furthermore, for fellow artists in the cultural and artistic community who are facing this infection situation, please refrain from turning this situation into gossip articles or spreading incorrect information without verification."
He continued, "Please also refrain from mentioning the real names of confirmed cases without their consent."
Yoon stated, "False information and malicious stories make it more difficult to quickly end this situation and block further transmission. Theater Company San will do its best to prevent any further spread."
Earlier, on the 19th, actor Seo Seong-jong, who appears in the theater company's play 'Looking at Modern History Differently - Jjambbong & So' (Jjambbong & So), was confirmed positive for COVID-19.
Subsequently, on the 20th, actor Heo Dong-won, who appears in both 'Jjambbong' and 'So,' was confirmed positive, and Kim Won-hae, who appears in 'Jjambbong,' was also confirmed positive. It is known that most of the cast and staff of 'Jjambbong & So' overlap.
The theater company announced through its official website, "Among the 39 participants, 15 have tested positive, 7 have tested negative, and 19 are awaiting test results. After a confirmed COVID-19 case occurred among the participants on the 19th, all participants were tested and are currently in self-quarantine. Upon confirmation of the case, we immediately shared the theater company's movement routes and list with the quarantine authorities."
