GS Retail Officially Launches Our Neighborhood Delivery Mobile App on the 19th

[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] GS Retail launched the neighborhood delivery mobile application (Woori Dongnae Delivery app, Woori Delivery app) for the general public on the 19th.

The Woori Delivery app is a mobile app that allows ordinary people to participate as delivery workers, and GS Retail has been conducting tests since the 3rd of this month. Through this, anyone aged 18 or older can participate as a Woori Delivery Friend (Woori Delivery Chingu, delivery person) and deliver GS25 products ordered through Yogiyo to customers.

From the 19th, Android-based smartphone users can download the Woori Delivery app through the Google Play Store, and it is planned to be additionally released on the Apple App Store within the year. The delivery service coverage area is GS25 stores throughout Seoul, and it will be expanded nationwide from the end of this month.

To participate as a Woori Delivery Friend, users need to register their name, date of birth, bank account information, etc., in the downloaded Woori Delivery app and select their delivery activity area. The delivery activity area can be designated as one area where the Woori Delivery Friend mainly resides, and in the case of Seoul, it can be selected by district.

GS Retail appointed Mr. Jang Young-eun (74 years old), who recently retired after operating the GS25 Gwangjang branch for the past 30 years, as the first Woori Delivery Friend and completed his registration.

Mr. Jang said, “Leaving behind the years spent with the history of GS25 over the past 30 years, I now want to contribute a little to the local community by working as the first Woori Delivery Friend and practicing eco-friendly delivery.”

The Woori Delivery service successfully completed a two-week final test through a trial group operation targeting 13 GS25 stores in Seoul since the 3rd. During this period, all orders were delivered within 30 minutes. Lunch boxes and promotional products such as 1+1 deals were frequently ordered mainly during lunch and dinner times, and the average payment amount per order was 16,200 KRW.

Jeon Jin-hyeok, head of the Woori Dongnae Delivery task force team, said, “Existing delivery services often take about an hour because delivery workers collect multiple orders for delivery, but we expect the Woori Delivery app to shorten delivery times,” adding, “Going forward, the Woori Delivery app will establish itself as a community-based eco-friendly and healthy delivery platform and bring cost-saving effects on delivery fees to store owners.”

Meanwhile, the delivery process of Woori Delivery is as follows: when a customer completes an order for GS25 delivery products through the Yogiyo mobile app, the order is transmitted to the Woori Delivery app via the intermediary company Foodtech, and Woori Delivery Friends accept the order call through the app and complete the delivery on foot. Since it is a GPS-based mobile app, GPS mode must be activated to accept order calls.

Woori Delivery Friends can receive between 2,800 KRW and 3,200 KRW per delivery from GS Retail. The delivery radius is limited to within 1.5 km from the GS25 store where the order product is picked up, considering foot delivery, and deliveries are possible for items weighing no more than 5 kg.
