[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] On the 16th, Tokyo Metropolis in Japan announced that 260 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Tokyo to 17,839.

The daily number of confirmed cases in Tokyo increased from the 100s on the 10th and 11th, to the 200s on the 12th and 13th, then to the 300s on the 14th and 15th, before dropping back to the 200s after three days.

Tokyo Metropolis urged residents to maintain "maximum vigilance" regarding the COVID-19 infection situation.
