Imsil-gun Conducts Environmental Cleanup Activities Around Okjeongho Lake Waterfront

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil County conducted a cleanup activity on the floating debris washed ashore along the Okjeongho waterfront on the 14th due to the recent heavy rains.

Currently, floating debris carried downstream from the upper reaches of Okjeongho is being deposited along the waterfront as the water level of Okjeongho decreases. Imsil County operates the Okjeongho Watershed Guardians, consisting of 22 members, to carry out cleanup activities on the debris accumulated along the waterfront.

The Okjeongho Metropolitan Watershed Guardians, organized into six teams, have been stationed along the Okjeongho waterfront since April, continuously conducting crackdowns on illegal activities within the lake and carrying out cleanup efforts.

This cleanup activity started around Ssangamgyo in Unam-myeon and will gradually extend to areas such as Bungeo Island and Yosan Park. Additionally, maintenance work on the Water Mist Trail and Masil Trail will be promoted to accommodate visitors to Okjeongho during the vacation season.

A county official stated, “We will make every effort to promptly collect the trash and floating debris washed ashore along the Okjeongho waterfront due to the recent heavy rains and manage the water quality of Okjeongho.”
