[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] As concerns over the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) grow, Naver and Kakao have reverted to remote work systems. This comes just over a month after switching back to normal work arrangements earlier last month.
On the 14th, Naver announced that due to the resurgence of the COVID-19 situation, it will resume a rotating work system with employees coming to the office twice a week for two weeks starting next week. During the rotating work period, Naver plans to continuously monitor the trend of community infection spread and adjust its response level accordingly.
Kakao also announced on the same day that it will urgently switch to a company-wide remote work system. Kakao explained, "A confirmed COVID-19 case was reported at a commercial building near the Kakao Pangyo office, and we judged that it is a nearby area closely connected to the living zones of Kakao crew members."
