Confirmed Positive Around 4 PM, 24th Case in the Province from Overseas Entry
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] Another COVID-19 case has been confirmed in the Jeonbuk region from an overseas arrival.
According to Jeonbuk health authorities on the 14th, a woman in her 20s, student A, who arrived from the United States, tested positive for COVID-19, becoming the 43rd case in Jeonbuk (24th case from overseas arrivals).
This follows two U.S. Air Force personnel who tested positive on the 11th, identified as the 41st and 42nd COVID-19 cases in Jeonbuk, marking another case within three days.
A, a South Korean national, departed from Kansas City Airport in the U.S., transited through Detroit Airport, and arrived at Incheon Airport (flight DL 159, seat 36A) at approximately 4:40 PM the previous day.
At around 7:25 PM, A took an airport bus (with 12 passengers) and arrived at the temporary overseas arrivals facility, Namwon Talent Development Center, at approximately 10:40 PM.
Subsequently, a specimen was collected at Namwon Talent Development Center around 8:00 AM on the 14th, and A received a positive COVID-19 diagnosis around 4:00 PM.
A is currently reported to be asymptomatic and will receive treatment at Jeonbuk National University Hospital.
Health authorities have conducted disinfection of the airport bus (confirmed via CCTV) and the vehicle used for transport, and have sent an official letter to the Incheon Airport Quarantine Office to identify contacts on the arriving flight and within the airport.
