[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Jo] Black Yak (Chairman Kang Tae-seon) announced on the 14th that it has launched the eco-friendly "BAC Doota2 T-shirt S," the first in Korea to apply "K-RPET recycled fiber."
The newly introduced T-shirt was made from recycled fibers derived from single-use PET bottles through a partnership with SM Group's TK Chemical. After producing a prototype, the product was finalized through field testing conducted with the BAC Challenge Team of the app-based hiking community platform Black Yak Alpine Club.
Single-use PET bottles used domestically are collected, impurities are removed, and then they are cut into nail-sized pieces to create rice grain-sized chips that serve as the raw material for fibers. The yarn is then spun, and the fabric undergoes dyeing and manufacturing processes, during which 15 PET bottles (based on 500ml water bottles) are recycled.
The yarn uses Tri Eco, a proprietary material developed by applying recycled polyester made from K-RPET recycled fiber, Sorona cotton-like eco-friendly material derived from corn, and functional rayon fabric, enhancing the product's quality.
With a soft touch and excellent moisture absorption and quick-drying functions, it maintains comfort at all times. The basic short-sleeve round neck design makes it highly versatile for everyday and outdoor activities. The women's version features a longer length, making it ideal to wear with leggings.
