The Gangdong Police Station in Seoul announced on the 13th that they have arrested and are investigating Mr. A on charges of hostage robbery.
According to the police, Mr. A is accused of kidnapping the victim, Ms. B, putting her in a vehicle, and demanding money from Ms. B's family as ransom. When the police arrived after a report, Mr. A tried to escape by ramming a police car but was caught.
Just before his arrest, Mr. A threatened Ms. B with a weapon and confronted the police. The police calmed Mr. A and persuaded him to release Ms. B, and eventually arrested Mr. A around 5:02 p.m. that day without any further harm.
A police official stated, "We plan to apply for an arrest warrant after investigating the suspect."
