"Seonghun Kang Accused of Swearing at High School Girl" Expos? Post... Agency States "Unfounded"

"Seonghun Kang Accused of Swearing at High School Girl" Expos? Post... Agency States "Unfounded" Singer Kang Seonghoon, former member of the group Sechs Kies. Photo by Kang Seonghoon Instagram.

[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Kang Sung-hoon, who was embroiled in various controversies after allegations surfaced that he insulted and pushed a high school girl living in the same neighborhood, has once again become the center of controversy. A representative from Kang Sung-hoon's side denied the claims.

On the afternoon of the 12th, a post titled "Sechskies Kang Sung-hoon reported me" was uploaded on an online community.

The author, an 18-year-old high school girl living in the same neighborhood as Kang Sung-hoon, claimed that she had posted about the harm she suffered from Kang Sung-hoon on another site, but the post was taken down.

First, the author explained the situation, saying, "When Kang Sung-hoon went out alone to separate recyclables, we accidentally bumped into each other, and everything Kang Sung-hoon was holding fell. Kang Sung-hoon, who had never greeted me even once, angrily shouted 'Hey, hey' at me, and since it was true that I caused the incident, I apologized about three or four times. I also added that I would pick everything up."

She continued, "However, Kang Sung-hoon, still with an angry face, pushed me away, telling me to get lost. He pushed so hard that I was almost about to fall backward, and there were finger marks left. The next day, while talking with a friend about the incident, Kang Sung-hoon happened to overhear. I heard every curse word in the world except for sexual and severe insults. I remember that the amount of insults I received that day was more than all the insults I had ever received before."

She said, "I was scared, so I kept my head down, avoided eye contact, and apologized, but Kang Sung-hoon put his finger on my chin, sharply turned my head, and asked if I knew what I did wrong. I admit that I was caught cursing Kang Sung-hoon and that I accidentally spilled the trash. But isn't it mutual unless one side intentionally bumped into the other? Of course, in Kang Sung-hoon's situation, since he was carrying a lot, it might have been difficult to avoid, and he could have been angry because what he had carefully gathered was spilled," she added.

She went on, "Still, pushing so hard that finger marks were left and I was almost about to fall is crossing the line, isn't it? Even so, I didn't refuse to apologize or resist; I said sorry and that I would clean everything up. Defamation by stating facts should be eliminated. If it were fabricated, I would have nothing to say, but I am posting about the behavior I experienced from the other party, so why is that defamation? Even if posting this damages his image, isn't that something he brought upon himself? If he hadn't acted that way in the first place, I wouldn't have had to write this post."

In particular, she expressed frustration that her expos? post was taken down on another site under Article 44, Paragraph 2 of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection. The reason for the removal was defamation, as a request to take down the post was received from the party claiming to be harmed by the post.

In response, Kang Sung-hoon's side stated, "The post on the community is absolutely not true," and added, "We are considering legal action."

Meanwhile, in November 2018, Kang Sung-hoon was sued by fans on charges of fraud and embezzlement. His fans accused Kang Sung-hoon and fan club operator Mr. A of "deceiving fans by pretending to donate the proceeds from ticket sales for the Sechskies 20th anniversary video conference in April 2017 and fans' sponsorship money, then embezzling it." Subsequently, Kang Sung-hoon withdrew from Sechskies.
