Iksan City Christian Association Expresses Opposition to the 'Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Act'

Iksan City Christian Association Expresses Opposition to the 'Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Act'

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jaehee] The Iksan City Christian Association in Jeonbuk has expressed opposition to the enactment of the Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Act currently pending in the National Assembly.

On the 13th, the Iksan City Christian Association, composed of 630 churches, held a press conference at the city hall press room and stated, "The Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Act infringes on the freedom of faith and conscience guaranteed by the Constitution," expressing their opposition.

The Christian Association said, "We are not against anti-discrimination itself, but we oppose the term 'comprehensive' in the Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Act," adding, "It is a law that legalizes homosexuality."

They continued, "Homosexuality is not genetic but a choice made by oneself, and if this law is enacted, more homosexuals will be produced," and expressed opposition, saying, "Currently, equality rights are sufficiently guaranteed under existing laws and systems, so we oppose the enactment of the Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Act."

They claimed, "In a situation where social crimes such as the recently problematic 'Doctor's Room' and child sexual crimes are increasing, this law normalizes homosexuality, polyamory, and pedophilia," and argued, "There is a risk that antisocial and evil groups will exploit this."

They also said, "If incorrect homosexuality is recognized as normal, students who receive such education in elementary, middle, and high schools can easily become homosexuals, and the spread of AIDS may increase," and stated, "We oppose this law because even if parents do not want their children to receive education on homosexuality, they cannot oppose it."

Furthermore, they expressed opposition, saying, "The Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Act can lead to one-sided punishment of violators," and "To protect sexual minorities, the vast majority of citizens are treated as potential violators."

The Iksan City Christian Association plans to meet with local lawmakers early next month to convey their opposition and to join forces with the nearby Jeonju area to continue opposition activities until the Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Act is withdrawn.

Meanwhile, the Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Act is a 'Discrimination Prohibition Bill' proposed on June 29 by 10 lawmakers including Jang Hye-young of the Justice Party.

The bill aims to enact a comprehensive and effective anti-discrimination law that prohibits and prevents discrimination without reasonable grounds in all areas and effectively addresses complex discrimination.
