[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) will hold the 1st regular session plenary meeting of the 6th Eunpyeong-gu Youth Council at the Eunpyeong-gu Council plenary hall on the 15th.
Composed of 39 youths aged 14 to 19 from Eunpyeong-gu, the 6th Eunpyeong-gu Youth Council has formed five standing committees on education, facility environment, human rights welfare, autonomous culture, and operations, and has continued online and small-scale offline activities such as holding the 1st extraordinary session despite the adverse conditions of the COVID-19 spread.
In particular, reflecting opinions proposed through the Eunpyeong-gu Youth Public Forum, seven projects desired by youths were discovered, including ▲ university student mentoring projects for youth career and curriculum competency improvement ▲ youth reading activity encouragement and knowledge exchange projects ▲ creation of student autonomous spaces in schools ▲ cooperative sports events for youth with and without disabilities ▲ youth-elderly empathy festivals ▲ youth career concerts ▲ youth E-sports competitions.
The discovered projects will be submitted as agenda items at this plenary meeting, and projects approved will be promoted as youth participation budget projects for the next year after going through the Youth General Assembly.
An official from Eunpyeong-gu said, “The 6th youth council members overcame the difficulties of activities caused by the spread of COVID-19 with a sense of duty and sincerity. We hope that their efforts will bear fruit in the form of promoting youth rights through this plenary meeting.”
This plenary meeting will also be held concurrently with the postponed 5th Eunpyeong-gu Youth Council completion and 6th appointment ceremony due to the impact of COVID-19, and will be broadcast live through the Eunpyeong-gu Council website.
