Since last weekend, the Jeonnam police have deployed 19 riot squad companies to Gurye, Gokseong, Naju, Hwasun, and Damyang to restore houses and facilities that were flooded or collapsed due to landslides.
In particular, the police riot squads and water trucks were fully mobilized to clean the roads in the Gurye-eup area, and the aviation unit (police helicopter) conducted nine search and reconnaissance missions for missing persons in Damyang, Gokseong, and Namwon City, Jeonbuk.
Additionally, 1,236 traffic police officers were deployed to 48 locations where roads were flooded or washed away due to the heavy rain, managing traffic to prevent secondary accidents and supporting road restoration.
Local police designated 29 disaster victim shelters for flexible patrols and conducted guidance activities to encourage non-disaster victims such as relatives and acquaintances to leave, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
A representative of the Jeonnam Police Agency stated, “As a reliable neighbor closest to the residents, we will protect the safety and peaceful lives of the residents through not only flood recovery but also preventive police activities.”
