Gwangju City Signs Business Agreement with AI Specialized Companies for 'Artificial Intelligence-Based Development' On the morning of the 12th, Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, attended the business agreement ceremony for establishing a Gwangju-type artificial intelligence business foundation held in the city hall business room. [Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the morning of the 12th that it signed the 26th to 28th business agreements with AI companies Iwaz Co., Ltd., Piolink Co., Ltd., and Hangisul Co., Ltd. at the city hall business room to establish a Gwangju-type AI business foundation.


These companies agreed to actively cooperate in creating the Gwangju AI ecosystem by establishing Gwangju corporations and regional offices.


Iwaz Co., Ltd. won first place in the first AI R&D Challenge hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT in 2018 and develops and supplies products such as AI based on information retrieval, big data, text mining, and search engines. The company collects and analyzes structured and unstructured data to provide predictions and insights, realizing intelligent future technologies.


Piolink Co., Ltd. is a network and information security specialist company that develops and supplies application delivery controllers, web firewalls, and cloud security switches. It also provides security monitoring and consulting services to protect customers' information assets from advanced cyber security threats.


Hangisul Co., Ltd. excels in wired and wireless network equipment and system construction, security, and system fields. It is a specialized company that develops and services IoT devices and AI-based integrated solutions, especially for the Smart X (farm/factory, etc.) sector.


Through this business agreement, Iwaz Co., Ltd. plans to develop and supply AI and big data solutions, Piolink Co., Ltd. will develop and supply data optimization products and solutions, and Hangisul Co., Ltd. will provide AI-based integrated solutions. Each of the three companies plans to establish Gwangju corporations and regional offices as soon as possible.


The main agreement contents include ▲technical and policy consultation for creating the Gwangju AI cluster ecosystem and building a related specialized business platform ▲establishment of Gwangju corporations and regional offices for nurturing AI talent and creating jobs ▲development, operation, and promotion of various corporate support programs to foster the AI industry ecosystem ▲planning and promotion of specialized AI workforce education and employment programs.


Mayor Lee Yong-seop said, “We will focus our core capabilities on creating a global-level AI ecosystem so that various AI specialized companies knocking on the door can create successful business models in Gwangju, the AI-centered city.”
