"Activation of Joint Operations by Region Suitable to Local Conditions"

On the 11th, Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education held a briefing session for education support office staff in charge of tasks ahead of improving the operation method of school buses.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] The Gyeongbuk Provincial Office of Education announced on the 12th that starting next year, it will improve the operation method of rented school buses for elementary and middle schools under the supervision of the Education Support Office to enhance students' commuting conditions.

Currently, the contracting party for rented school buses is each individual school, but from next year, the contracting party will change from the school principal to the education superintendent. This system improvement aims to activate joint operation by setting commuting zones by region that fit local circumstances.

Accordingly, elementary and middle schools will be required to consult with nearby schools on route operations before setting commuting routes. The Education Support Office will promote effective joint operation of school buses through contracts suited to regional conditions, such as bulk contracts after establishing an annual comprehensive operation plan or individual contracts per vehicle.

Lee Sang-guk, Director of the School Support Division at the Provincial Office of Education, stated, "Each school will be able to apply for and utilize suitable vehicles through the local school bus operation information system, which will reduce workload and enable efficient use of school buses." He added, "We will continue to strive to create commuting conditions that satisfy students and parents."
