Professional Energy Consultant Diagnosis and Consulting for 200 Households Until December
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Greenhouse gases emitted from non-industrial sectors such as households account for about 40% of South Korea's total greenhouse gas emissions. Compared to the industrial sector, the cost of reduction is lower and the effects occur within a short period.
Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) will provide free 'Greenhouse Gas Diagnostic Consulting' to households in the area until December to encourage residents to practice energy saving and enhance the effect of greenhouse gas reduction.
First, 200 households in the area will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis to participate in the consulting by next month.
The district will match participating households with a total of 11 energy consultants who will analyze household energy usage and lifestyle patterns using greenhouse gas diagnostic charts and other tools.
The main consulting contents include ▲cutting standby power of home appliances and proper usage ▲energy-saving methods through improvements such as insulation, windows, and high-efficiency lighting devices ▲seasonal boiler management ▲energy-saving practices in daily life such as heating and cooking.
In particular, while consulting was previously conducted through direct visits by consultants, this year it will be conducted via phone consulting or face-to-face consulting in outdoor or other spaces where quarantine rules can be ensured to prevent COVID-19 infection.
Applications for participation and other inquiries can be made by visiting or calling the Clean Environment Division.
Additionally, starting next month, the district plans to conduct a 'Green Leader Beginner Course' at each community center for about 200 residents.
The Green Leader Beginner Course involves making flowerpots using eco-friendly air-purifying plants such as ivy, table palm, and lucky bamboo with a professional instructor.
Lee Jeongsim, head of the Clean Environment Division, said, “Through this consulting, we will create a pleasant urban environment by promoting energy-saving methods that anyone can practice in daily life,” and added, “We hope for the interest and participation of many residents.”
