[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] Joe Biden, the former Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate in the United States, has decided on his vice presidential running mate, and it is reported that the announcement could be made as early as the 11th (local time).

CNN cited well-informed sources on the day, reporting that the vice presidential nominee has been informed to key figures in the Biden campaign.

Former Vice President Biden has expressed his intention to nominate a woman as his running mate, and amid nationwide protests against racial discrimination, it has been widely speculated that a Black woman is a strong candidate.

U.S. media outlets expect Senator Kamala Harris, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, former White House National Security Advisor Susan Rice, and Representative Karen Bass to be the vice presidential nominees.

CNN reported, citing sources, that Representative Bass was informed she was not nominated as the vice presidential candidate by Biden.

Senator Harris, known as the most likely candidate, has also attracted attention as her speech schedule at the upcoming Democratic National Convention next week has been confirmed. However, Harris's speech is not in the capacity of the vice presidential nominee.
