Proactive Testing for Seniors at Elderly Welfare Facilities in Gwangjin-gu

Preemptive Testing for Elderly Using Daycare Center from 18th to 24th... All Preemptive Tests for Elderly Welfare Facility Workers Last Month Came Back Negative

Proactive Testing for Seniors at Elderly Welfare Facilities in Gwangjin-gu

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Seon-gap) is conducting proactive COVID-19 testing for elderly users of senior facilities to block infections within these facilities, as cases of asymptomatic infections with unknown transmission routes and small-scale cluster infections have been continuously occurring.

This proactive testing will be conducted from the 18th to the 24th at the Gwangjin-gu Public Health Center screening clinic for elderly users of daycare centers who wish to be tested.

To prevent safety accidents and minimize waiting times, the district plans to limit the number of people tested to 5 per center between 4 PM and 6 PM, a time with fewer visitors, with a daily maximum of 20 to 30 people.

Last month, on the 13th and 14th, the district promoted proactive testing for workers at elderly welfare facilities such as nursing homes and daycare centers in the region at Gwangjin Square.

A total of 633 people were tested during the previous testing, and all received negative results.

Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “As small-scale cluster infections have occurred one after another in places such as churches and Namdaemun across the metropolitan area, the risk of secondary infections is increasing. Since elderly people have a high risk of death if infected, we hope many will participate in proactive testing to prevent infection risks.”
