Gurye-gun is experiencing difficulties for many residents as water supply has been cut off in all areas except Sandong-myeon due to flooding of the Gurye water intake facility and the Seomjin River water intake facility caused by heavy rain.
Mayor Jeong delivered 9,792 bottles of 2L bottled water to Gurye-gun on the 9th to resolve the most urgent issue of drinking water.
On the 10th, he supported one mobile laundry vehicle and two water spraying vehicles, and 60 volunteers visited the flood damage sites to carry out volunteer activities.
Jeong Hyun-bok, mayor of Gwangyang City, said, “I cannot help but feel heartbroken over the severe damage in the neighboring area of Gurye-gun,” and added, “We will actively support so that the damage recovery can be completed as soon as possible.”
A Gurye-gun official expressed gratitude, saying, “We deeply appreciate the help given during this difficult situation,” and conveyed the intention that “Gurye-gun will also actively assist Gwangyang City whenever it faces difficult situations.”
Meanwhile, the Gwangyang City Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters plans to actively work to ensure that the damage recovery in Gurye-gun proceeds swiftly and that the residents experiencing difficulties can stabilize their lives as soon as possible.
