According to Jeonnam Province on the 11th, the 31st Army Division (Division Commander Major General So Youngmin) visited the site of soil inflow on Local Road 887 in Seongdo-ri, Mujeong-myeon, Damyang-gun from the previous day and worked hard on emergency repairs.
Two dump trucks and two excavators belonging to the engineer battalion, along with 15 soldiers, were deployed to remove 500㎥ of soil from the road, making vehicle passage possible.
On the 12th, at two locations totaling 35m on county roads and rural roads in Myoryang-myeon, Yeonggwang-gun, where road slope damage occurred, the 190th Engineer Battalion of Sangmu Base plans to carry out embankment stacking work with one excavator and 10 soldiers.
The Jeonnam Chapter of the Korea Construction Association has been supporting soil removal work with 15 excavators in Gurye-gun from that day, including in front of Gurye Terminal and on national roads.
In this way, the private sector, government, and military have come together to actively participate in the recovery efforts from the heavy rain damage in the Jeonnam region, creating a heartwarming example of cooperation.
Meanwhile, due to the record-breaking heavy rain since the 7th, 117 road facilities in 12 cities and counties in Jeonnam were damaged. There were incidents of road slope collapse, soil inflow, and road flooding at 17 national roads, 42 local roads, and 58 city and county road facilities.
So far, Jeonnam Province and each city and county have mobilized all equipment owned by the provincial road management office and their own resources to prioritize emergency repairs on 113 vehicle control sections. The recovery rate has reached 97%.
Park Cheolwon, Director of the Road Traffic Division of Jeonnam Province, said, “We prioritized repairing areas where vehicle passage was difficult due to road facility damage and will complete emergency repairs by the 12th.”
