Support for Small Business Owners Planning to Close to Restart Their Business

Officials from the Small Enterprise and Market Service commissioned training institution are filming an online class related to reemployment training at a studio located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Small Enterprise and Market Service announced on the 10th that it will conduct the 'Hope Return Package Reemployment Training' online.

This online training is being promoted as part of support for the reemployment of small business owners who have closed or are planning to close their businesses. Training videos will be filmed using studios of educational institutions commissioned by the agency or spaces owned by the Small Enterprise and Market Service.

Small business owners can attend the online training conducted in real-time via computer or smartphone from their homes or elsewhere.

Those who complete the reemployment training online can apply for the job transition encouragement allowance (up to 1 million KRW) once 60 days of continuous employment after hiring is confirmed, just like those who complete on-site training.

The Small Enterprise and Market Service is implementing this online training due to ongoing difficulties in offline training caused by the impact of COVID-19, which has led to suspension or postponement of reemployment training for small business owners in the metropolitan area (Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon). Starting next month, the online training will be expanded nationwide.

Cho Bonghwan, Director of the Small Enterprise and Market Service, said, "We have decided to promote online training to help small business owners who have closed or are planning to close their businesses and hope to restart through employment amid difficulties caused by COVID-19. We hope this online reemployment training will help improve employment capabilities more easily without restrictions of time and place, and further support active job transitions."
