[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam County is easing the criteria for tourism incentive support and additionally providing MICE attraction incentives.

According to Haenam County on the 10th, the tourism attraction incentive paid to travel agencies that attract group tourists has been relaxed from a minimum of 20 people to 10 people, actively encouraging Haenam-bound trips for the recently increasing small-scale travel products.

In particular, despite having a support ordinance, the MICE attraction incentives, which had not been implemented until now for various meetings and events, will also be additionally provided.

The MICE incentive support targets businesses and groups holding meetings or events in Haenam County, requiring only one of the following activities: same-day or overnight stay, dining at restaurants, shopping, experiential activities, or visiting tourist attractions.

If an event is held on the same day with 30 or more people, 5,000 KRW per person is provided; for overnight stays of one or two nights with 20 or more people, 10,000 KRW and 15,000 KRW per person are paid respectively.

The county expanded and supplemented the incentive system by reflecting suggestions made during travel agency meetings held this year in line with the changed tourism trends after COVID-19.

With this incentive expansion, the plan is to support the travel industry struggling to attract tourists and induce an increase in visitors to revitalize local tourism.

A Haenam County official stated, “We will continue to promote various policies such as incentive support so that economic revitalization through tourism can be felt along with travel destination quarantine management.”

Meanwhile, to promote the changed incentive criteria, cooperation letters have been sent to local governments nationwide, national education offices, Korea Tourism Association, Korea Association of Travel Agents, Korea Tourism Organization, local travel agencies, restaurants, and accommodations to actively attract tourists.
