KDI Graduate School of International Policy, Hosts Global Leader Online Course to Share G20 Agendas and Korea's Policy Experiences

The KDI School of Public Policy and Management (Dean Yoo Jong-il, hereinafter KDI School) will hold the ‘Global Leader Online Program’ for a total of 55 mid-level public administrators from 15 G20 member countries and 19 developing countries over seven weeks from the 11th of this month to the 24th of next month.

This program is planned to provide education on the main agenda of the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in November, and to explore cooperation measures between developing countries and G20 member countries for sustainable development, along with Korea’s economic and social development policies.

The program consists of a ‘G20 Session’ to discuss ‘Realizing Opportunities of the 21st Century for All,’ proposed by Saudi Arabia, the G20 chair country this year, and a ‘Session for Sharing Korea’s Development and Policy Experience.’

The main topics include G20 key agendas such as ▲ sustainable development ▲ global economy and trade ▲ climate change and green growth ▲ digital economy. In particular, a special lecture on Korea’s infectious disease response policy using ICT will be conducted to share Korea’s quarantine system amid the international health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since 2011, the KDI School has been operating the Global Leader Program in cooperation with governments of G20 member and non-member countries to share major G20 agendas and Korea’s economic and social development policies with key policymakers.

This program will be conducted as a hybrid blended education combining real-time video lectures, e-learning online education, and field learning, responding to the new normal era after COVID-19, moving away from the previous face-to-face courses.

Son Wook, Director of Research Cooperation at the KDI School, stated, “We hope this program will serve as a platform for discussions on global issues faced in the new normal era, including Korea’s quarantine response related to COVID-19.”
