Supporting Changes in Work Methods for Small and Medium Enterprises and Mid-sized Companies

Productivity Headquarters Recruiting Companies for Comprehensive Remote Work Consulting Participation

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Korea Productivity Center (KPC, Chairman Noh Gyu-seong) announced on the 10th that it will conduct a 'Comprehensive Telecommuting Consulting' in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Labor. There is no cost burden for participating companies, and small and medium-sized enterprises as well as mid-sized companies interested in participating in this project can apply by the 18th. Public sector organizations, local governments, and education offices are also eligible to apply.

Due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), changes in working methods such as remote and telecommuting, cloud-based collaboration, and flexible work systems have accelerated, and many companies are striving to fundamentally innovate their work culture. For the successful introduction of a telecommuting system, a multifaceted and thorough review is required, including issues related to human resources and labor such as reviewing the scope and operation methods of telecommuting, selecting suitable job positions, and establishing management regulations and systems, as well as IT infrastructure construction such as cloud and remote systems.

The comprehensive telecommuting consulting is a project promoted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor to support the establishment of telecommuting systems in workplaces after COVID-19. Professional consultants visit companies directly to support necessary aspects for the introduction and implementation of telecommuting systems, including IT solution construction and utilization plans, legal issues arising from system implementation, and organizational culture improvement training. The Korea Productivity Center operates as the executing agency for this project.

In this consulting, which is conducted over nine weeks with professional consultants visiting workplaces directly, advice is provided on human resources and labor management related to telecommuting as well as IT infrastructure system construction, including pilot operation and follow-up management of telecommuting. Participants can also receive guidance on government support projects related to telecommuting, such as the Ministry of Employment and Labor’s indirect labor cost and infrastructure construction support project and the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ non-face-to-face service voucher support project.

In particular, participating companies that grow into leading models of telecommuting systems will be offered various preferential benefits, including certification as excellent companies under the Work Innovation Incentive System, exemption from regular labor inspections for three years, and support of up to 20 million KRW for work innovation infrastructure construction costs.
