Jung Hyun-bok, Mayor of Gwangyang, Actively Supports Disaster Victims in Gurye-gun

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Jeong Hyun-bok, mayor of Gwangyang City, announced on the 10th that he will actively support the victims displaced by the damage in Gurye-gun.

From August 5 to 8, due to the northward movement of the monsoon front, human and property damage occurred in Jeollanam-do. In particular, Gurye-eup was flooded by heavy rain of 423mm in Gurye-gun, resulting in nearly 1,000 displaced victims.

Accordingly, Mayor Jeong inspected the damage site in Daap-myeon, Gwangyang City, checked what the displaced victims needed, and ordered officials to do their best to support them without inconvenience. He also instructed to provide 60 emergency relief sets to Gurye-gun, where the damage occurred.

Jeong Hyun-bok, mayor of Gwangyang City, emphasized, "The key in disaster relief is to listen to the opinions of the affected residents and actively support them," and said, "I hope the recovery of damage in Gurye-gun will be carried out promptly."

Meanwhile, the Gwangyang City Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters will immediately carry out emergency restoration for this damage, and plans to establish a 24-hour emergency response system during future heavy rains to minimize human and property damage through prompt action.
