Shinhyup Launches Mobile Financial Service... Tablet Branch Service Implemented

[Asia Economy Kim Min-young] Shinhan Credit Union is implementing a service where employees visit customers directly with tablet PCs.


The National Credit Union Federation of Korea announced on the 10th the launch of the ‘Shinhan Smart On’ service.


Shinhan Smart On refers to a tablet branch service where Shinhan Credit Union staff visit pre-registered members directly and provide financial services via tablet PCs at the desired location. A Shinhan Credit Union official explained that it is a hybrid service combining non-face-to-face (untact) demand, which has increased since the COVID-19 pandemic due to reluctance to visit multi-use branches, with face-to-face customized financial services.


Before fully implementing the tablet branch service, Shinhan Credit Union conducted a pilot operation targeting credit unions in Daejeon and Chungnam regions since last month, and plans to gradually expand it to over 400 credit unions nationwide starting today.


Through this, Shinhan Credit Union provides various financial services that previously required visiting a branch, such as one-on-one customized financial consultations, subscription to deposit products, deposits and withdrawals, remittances, loan consultations and repayments, and inquiries on various financial information.


This is the first in the mutual finance sector and also handles loan consultations through simple screening, loan calculators, housing loan-to-value ratio (LTV) limit inquiries, and loan repayments all in one stop.


A National Credit Union Federation official stated, “This service is the first platform in the mutual finance sector that allows members and financial product subscriptions and financial consultations outside of branches for user convenience,” adding, “Along with convenience, it will provide safer and smarter financial services by enhancing security through the application of identity verification services.”
