[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety will conduct guidance and inspections from the 10th of this month to the 4th of next month targeting cooking and sales establishments around schools and academies frequently used by children, in preparation for the autumn semester.
This inspection targets approximately 35,400 cooking and sales establishments such as snack bars, school stores, and areas around amusement parks to create a safe and hygienic sales environment for children's preferred foods.
The main inspection items include ▲ use and storage of expired products ▲ compliance with hygienic handling standards for cooking facilities ▲ compliance with storage standards for frozen and refrigerated products ▲ conducting health checkups for workers ▲ and whether emotionally harmful foods are being sold.
Additionally, necessary measures for daily quarantine such as hand washing, wearing hygiene caps and masks will be guided, and a campaign to promote the designation of the ‘Restaurant Hygiene Grade System’ will be conducted to ensure a safe and hygienic food safety protection zone.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety stated, “We will continue to make efforts to create an environment where healthy and safe foods can be handled at cooking and sales establishments around academies and schools frequently used by children.”
