LG Heating and Cooling System Applies NET Certified Technology... Achieves Grade 1 Energy Efficiency
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] Samsung Electronics' LED TV and LG Electronics' commercial single heating and cooling unit received the 23rd Energy Winner Awards of the Year. The awards ceremony is co-hosted by the Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and supported by the Ministry of Environment and the Korea Energy Agency.
The Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice announced on the 10th that a total of 27 items, including 26 high-efficiency energy and eco-friendly products and one energy-saving activity, were awarded.
Samsung Electronics' LED TV, LG Electronics' commercial single heating and cooling unit, Coway's AIS 3.0 ice cold and hot water purifier and Hanppyeom direct water purifier, and five LG Electronics' high-output double-sided solar power modules received the grand prize for energy.
The grand prize is awarded only to the best high-efficiency energy products of the year.
Among them, Samsung Electronics' LED TV received the Prime Minister's Award, LG Electronics' heating and cooling unit received the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Award, and Coway's cold and hot water purifier received the Minister of Environment Award.
Samsung Electronics' LED TV had an energy efficiency rating of grade 4 with a power consumption of 155W last year, but this year it achieved grade 1 by reducing power consumption by 54.2% to 71W. Optimizing panel specifications to improve transmittance and optical efficiency was key.
LG Electronics' heating and cooling unit applied technology certified as New Excellent Technology (NET) to improve evaporator pressure loss. It achieved high efficiency and low noise by blocking direct wind and sending air from high ceilings to the floor, earning an energy consumption efficiency grade 1.
