[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] On Monday the 10th, heavy rain is forecast nationwide due to concentrated downpours and the influence of the 5th typhoon 'Jangmi'.

The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) reported on the 9th that very heavy rain is falling in the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon Yeongseo, and the southern coast of Gyeongnam due to rain cloud bands coming from the West Sea and the eastern South Sea. It is expected that very heavy rain will continue until dawn on the 10th in northern Seoul, northern Gyeonggi, and northern Gangwon Yeongseo.

Additionally, as Typhoon Jangmi moves northward, heavy rain is forecast for the southern coast of Jeonnam, Gyeongnam, the southern and mountainous areas of Jeju Island, and the Jirisan area, which are directly affected by the typhoon. The KMA expects heavy rain and strong winds nationwide due to the typhoon's accompanying strong winds and rain cloud bands.

The typhoon is expected to pass east of Jeju Island on the morning of the 10th and make landfall on the southern coast the same afternoon. The KMA urged caution in forecasts, stating, "The precipitation and strong wind areas may change depending on the development, movement path, and speed of the 5th typhoon 'Jangmi'."

Expected rainfall from the 9th to the 11th is 100-200mm in the central region, southern region, Jeju Island, and the five West Sea islands; over 300mm in northern Seoul and Gyeonggi, northern Gangwon Yeongseo, southern coast of Jeonnam, Gyeongnam, southern and mountainous areas of Jeju Island, and near Jirisan; and 20-60mm in Ulleungdo and Dokdo. Very strong winds with speeds of 10-20 m/s and maximum instantaneous wind speeds of 25 m/s are expected in southern Gangwon, inland Chungcheong, Gyeongsang, and Jeolla (excluding the West Coast), so caution is advised to prevent damage to outdoor facilities such as signboards and vinyl greenhouses.

The lowest temperature on the morning of the 10th is forecast to be 22-26°C, and the highest temperature during the day is expected to be 27-31°C.
