Major KPGA Championship Day 3: Even Par Amid Severe Weather, Maeng Dongseop Tied 3rd, Jang Igeun and Moon Kyungjun Tied 9th
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] It is Park Jeong-min's (27, photo) first chance to win.
On the 8th, at A-One Golf Course in Yangsan-si, Gyeongnam (par 70, 6,950 yards), during the third day of the KPGA Korean Tour Major KPGA Championship (total prize money 1 billion won), Park Jeong-min did not reduce his strokes but maintained his position at the top of the leaderboard for the second consecutive day (6 under par, 204 strokes). Ham Jeong-woo (26, Hana Financial Group) is in 2nd place (5 under par, 205 strokes), and five players including Maeng Dong-seop (33), Yoon Sang-pil (22), Shin Sang-hoon (22, Golfzon), Han Seung-soo (USA), and Ko Seok-wan (Canada) are tied for 3rd place (3 under par, 207 strokes) in a chase.
Park Jeong-min started tied for first place with Ham Jeong-woo by one stroke, recording 4 birdies, 2 bogeys, and 1 double bogey. Although he started shakily with a double bogey on the 3rd hole (par 4) and a bogey on the 4th hole (par 3), he showed resilience by making a birdie on the 9th hole (par 5), consecutive birdies on the 11th and 12th holes, and another stroke reduction on the 14th hole (par 4). However, it was regrettable that he made a bogey due to a tee shot mistake on the 15th hole (par 4). Leading by one stroke, this is his first opportunity to aim for a win since his debut in 2012.
His personal best is a tie for 8th place at last year's GS Caltex Maekyung Open. Jang I-geun (27, Shinhan Financial Group) advanced to a tie for 9th place (2 under par, 208 strokes) with a daily best score of 2 under par. Moon Kyung-jun (38, Husem) and Wang Jeong-hoon (25) joined this group. Defending champion Lee Won-jun (Australia) is tied for 16th place (1 under par, 209 strokes), 5 strokes behind. Choi Jin-ho (36, Hyundai Steel) and Yoo Song-gyu (24) are in this group. Lee Soo-min (27, Srixon) lost 4 strokes and dropped to a tie for 36th place (1 over par, 211 strokes).
