Flood Advisory near Yeongsangang Geungnakgyo Changed to Flood Warning
On the 7th, when a heavy rain warning was issued due to record-breaking rainfall in Gwangju Metropolitan City, the water level of Gwangjucheon approached full capacity in the afternoon.

According to Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, as of 12:30 AM on the 8th, the water level of Gwangjucheon near Taepyeonggyo Bridge (in front of the KDB Building) in Yangdong, Seo-gu, reached a flood risk level.
This is similar to the highest water level reached around 4 PM the previous day.
Although the water level of Gwangjucheon slightly decreased around 8 PM the previous day, creating a 1.5m margin, the continuous heavy rainfall of 50-60mm per hour appears to have caused the water level to rise again.
Currently, Taepyeonggyo Bridge is under traffic restriction.
An official from Seo-gu stated, “The water level of Gwangjucheon near Taepyeonggyo Bridge has risen slightly compared to 8 PM the previous day, but based on the current weather conditions, flooding is not expected to occur. We will continue monitoring closely and thoroughly prepare for any safety accidents.”
In addition, a landslide warning was issued for Gwangju City starting at 9 PM the previous day.
Also, the flood advisory issued at 11:50 PM the previous day for Yeongsangang Geungnakgyo Bridge was upgraded to a flood warning at 1 AM on the same day.
Meanwhile, as the water level of Gwangjucheon near Taepyeonggyo Bridge (in front of the KDB Building) in Yangdong, Seo-gu, Gwangju rose in the afternoon of the previous day, 1,180 nearby stores suspended operations and about 2,300 merchants evacuated urgently.
