[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Jo Hangyu] Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 7th that it will resume the 'Food Plan Village Tour Roundtable' to recruit farms to participate in the local food plan.
Previously, Jangseong-gun held roundtable meetings in 95 villages within the region from June until early last month. However, these were temporarily suspended due to the spread of COVID-19 in neighboring areas.
The county plans to reopen the roundtables from the 10th and visit 329 villages by next month.
The on-site support team, composed of the Food Business Group, which is the intermediary support organization of the Jangseong Food Plan, and experts, will directly visit village residents to explain the food plan and local food participation cases. They will also conduct basic surveys to understand the current farming status and recruit farms to participate in the food plan.
Yoo Doo-seok, the mayor of Jangseong-gun, said, "The food plan, included in the Moon Jae-in administration's 100 national tasks, is a groundbreaking project that allows local farms and consumers to coexist." He added, "We will encourage active participation from farmers to establish a solid food plan farm organization."
Meanwhile, Jangseong-gun plans to provide training opportunities for farmers who wish to participate in the food plan in the future.
Farmers who complete the training will be granted shipment qualifications and will be able to stably ship agricultural products through various sales channels such as local food direct stores, public meal centers, and various direct transaction events.
