Installation of Safety Facilities According to the 'Hajun Law'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hong Jae-hee] Jeonju City, Jeollabuk-do, has strengthened safety management by installing wheel chocks and guide signs in sloped parking lots to prevent slipping accidents in accordance with the "Hajun Law."
On the 7th, the city announced that it will investigate the safety management status of parking lots distributed throughout Jeonju by the end of this year and plans to install anti-slip facilities in public parking lots where there is a risk of slipping.
This is because, according to the Hajun Law, which was enacted on June 25, the installation of anti-slip facilities in sloped parking lots is mandatory by December 26.
The city first installed a total of 80 fixed wheel chocks (cast stoppers) and guide signs in both directions along a 520-meter section of the on-street parking lot in the Hanok Village, from the entrance of Omokdae to the entrance of Jaman Village.
In addition, the city investigated the safety management status of attached parking lots of facilities managed by the city, such as Hanok Village, traditional markets, sports facilities, and the zoo, as well as the government office parking lot, and decided to sequentially equip safety facilities in sections with safety accident risks due to slopes.
Along with this, the city plans to actively guide and encourage about 22,700 private parking lots and approximately 370 off-street parking lots in the region to independently install anti-slip facilities in sloped parking lots.
Lee Kang-jun, Head of the Citizen Transportation Headquarters, said, “As the Hajun Law is being fully enforced, drivers must take preventive measures against slipping accidents, such as turning the steering wheel toward the edge of the road when parking on a slope,” and added, “Our city will also strive to conduct regular facility inspections to prevent safety accidents caused by slipping.”
